Shorewood Holiday Shopwalk...

Shorewood's Annual Holiday Shopwalk was last Saturday... and boy, was it a blast.

We hosted one of 20 of the area ice carvers who made an amazing ice sculpture of a waterfall... falling into the street... it was great! Which ended up literally falling into the street over the night:( There were also carolers and other fun things going on at Gloss and other businesses this day... it truly was a magnificent day!

Come out to Shorewood and walk up Oakland & Capitol to view all these beautiful masterpieces of ice.

Our Cali Trip...

Sam & I took an amazing vacation to Southern California for Thanksgiving. It was our first real vacation since our Honeymoon over three years ago.

All of the places we went were so beautiful... and so different. Although Cali is fabulous... we are so happy to be home in Milwaukee and working our butts off at Gloss for this busy Holiday season.

I still can't believe the amazing weather we had for Josh & Alaina's November wedding... agh... it was amazing!

This was such a beautiful day, with two beautiful people that are incredibly, madly in love with one another.

The ceremony was at a gorgeous Nature Center, where the possibilities were endless for great shootin' ... trails, ponds, & riverbends ... oh my.

I love the chance to add something so different to a couples' photography when it involves jobs, hobbies, etc... Josh is a proud Caledonia Firefighter. So of course, we had the awesome opportunity to go to the firehouse and play around with some fun things.

We had the chance to stop off at a local pub, and one of the dudes won $100. in pull tabs... when does that ever happen. I personally was very jealous!

Some very, very touching speeches. I was tearing up... which is really no surprise... ha.

Stella & Striker (and their parents) attended a fundraiser at the Humane Society last Tuesday, the Halloween Howl.

It was an absolute blast and we got a bunch of laughs at our doggies' expense... haha.

Stella&Striker went as a Bride & Groom... (I made Stella's dress FYI) ... anyways we made a quick stop to the studio to shoot a few corny photos of Striker&Stella on their wedding day... haha

I'm a 'anything-for-the-shot' type of gal... we had a beautifully stressful few moments as we propped baby Ella up on a fabulous antique painted console... Daddy was nearby for the dive on a few occassions, as Mommy paced behind me... it was hilarious! All of us were giggling through this whole shoot!

Here's the funtabulous story of the who, the what, the where, AND the why...

I photographed Chrissy's sister, Jen's, wedding this past summer. Chrissy totally freaked at my style and how beautiful her sister's photographs were. I didn't realize it at the time, but she was really excited and bummed about it at the same time...

Chrissy and Brett got married 3 years ago at a beautiful church on the East side, and the reception at Pier Wisconsin/Discovery World, but have no photographs... nothing... to show from their beautiful day! Something happened with the photographer, which I will not disclose on my blog or discuss in general, but because of that they have NOTHING! It is so, so sad!

My past bride, her other sister, and Brett set up this whole amazing day for Chrissy. They snuck her dress out from storage and had it hanging in the studio. Jen told everyone she had to pick up some photography products from Gloss and they had to make a stop before brunch... SURPRISE! Chrissy thought her day would consist of driving back home to Chicago and relaxin'.... but NOOOO.... we had an amazing day of shootin'!

I am so happy we were able to give Chrissy and Brett back some of their incredibly special day.

Maggie and I had so much fun at her Senior Graduation Shoot the other day. We shot alot of her shoot in a friend's backyard. Their backyard was magnificent. There was the most gorgeous view of Lake Michigan and really awesome paths to get down to the beach, which made for some very fun & interesting shots... we even managed to get into a lil' trouble by going onto the neighbors land... haha. opps...

There are very few words to describe Dave & Kerri's wedding last Saturday in Oshkosh & Neenah, WI... maybe WOW is a good word.

Well, these Sneak Peeks kind of took on a life of itself and might have become Wedding Sneak Peeks, along with Commercial Sneak Peeks. Confused? Here we go...

Kerri is a fashion designer. (who awesomely used to work for Marc Jacobs... cool... I know). Anyways, she designed her gown... and sewed it... flew all over the world(country) literally... to find her fine fabrics and antique buttons... amazing! So we started super early so that we would have plenty of time to get a mini commercial shoot in to artistically document this beautiful gown.

Stopped by Leon's to get some icecream for the wedding party...

Because of this shot- I got a shout out in the Bride & Groom's toast during the reception... super funny... We were stopped for a train, so we jumped off the trolley to grab some shots... Dave loves dipping his new wife... all over the place... well... he didn't have that tight of a grip- and BOOM... she went crashing to the ground... cars were honking all over the place because if was seriously hilarious. Don't worry myself and the videographer documented every moment! - anyways, he told this story during his toast... haha... hence, my shoutout... :)

You wouldn't be able to tell in this shot, but this was one of my largest bridal parties: 29? I think. (Not shown: one bridesmaid who was literally in labor and rushed to the hospital I think that morning, 4 flower girls, 3 ring bearers, & 2 ushers) haha... awesome time!

I love the unique things couples are doing for 'the kisses' during the reception... they had these kazoos at each place setting - to blow away at if you wanted the bride & groom to kiss... not to mention it was a super cute idea to go along with the dressup trunk for their photobooth.

Cake centerpieces... each different flavors to get guests out of their seats and mingle with tables around them to taste the cakes.... very cute!

The middle of the head table had a seperate Bride & Groom table. I thought this was a very cool idea.... and of course I was totally obsessed with the damask theme.

This was an awesome shoot the other day with Baby C and his Mommy & Daddy...

Mommy & Daddy brought all these great accessories and such for Baby C to feel comfortable during his first photo shoot at Gloss. One of the coolest things they brought?... nope- wasn't his blankie... nope- wasn't his teddy bears... it was... his nook... get this... it was Juicy Couture! How cool is that... these clients have got some style & that made our shoot rock that much more!

Lam+Melissa | Paine Art Museum | 09.19.09

Awww ... what a beautiful day at the Paine Art Museum for a wedding... Melissa & Lam's wedding!

We had so much fun with the couple throughout their engagement and their wedding. They are so crazy in love and love to laugh... a lot!

This venue holds a special spot for Sam & I, as we got married there 3 years ago... so special & magical.

This was an awesome moment. We were doing some bridal shots before the ceremony and out walks Melissa's dad... having his First Look of his daughter in her beautiful wedding gown. It was so neat to capture these moments between the two of them.

Laughing like usual- but in this case everyone was laughing- there was lil' fumble with the wedding bands, and there had to be a quick pause in the service to find where they fell too

A very important element to their wedding day was the Chinese Dragon dancers to enhance Lam's Chinese heritage. What a great idea, and awesome entertainment for their guests.

They had so much fun with the cake cutting. Nothin' traditional about these two.

Favors for their guests were fortune cookies & a red envelope. Inside the red envelope were donations for their guests to 'feed' the Dragon dancers during their Grand Enterance.

Ohhh Miss A...

I can't believe how big Miss A is!!! If some people don't recognize, this is the big drool portrait that has always been fairly large and on display at the studio... yes... that one. Now she is all grown up!

We had a great time walking around getting to know different environments. I heard from a lil' birdie that Miss A miiiiiight be getting a baby kitten soon, so we might have used that to our advantage during the shoot to get some awesome shots.

Luke & Jen were such a blast to be around for their wedding day last Saturday in Niagra, Wisconsin... that's like... literally... the border of Wisconsin & Michigan... haha. They had a gorgeous day. We were so surprised at how 'fall' it is up there already... it was beautiful!

We decided to have a lot of fun with the Preparations, and throw a lil' Boudoir in there... super fun!
Seriously, there were so many cutesy babies and children... awww... too cute!

This was the cutest! It was a little bit of a travel from ceremony to reception, and a select group of adults could not wait to get off the bus... and this little guy wanted to do everything the men were doing... haha.

the New Face of SHOP ... an ad campaign competition

OK... So last night was the Milwaukee Celebrates Fashion's Night Out NYC city wide. It was such a hit at SHOP... the place was packed! Satellite Crepes made complimentary sweet and savory crepes for everyone... boy, were they yummy. And as people munched, they were listening to the hot DJ tunes by Howie from the Establishment Salon. He was also giving away awesome Aveda goodie bags & the event had great tee-shirts for people who attended.

Gloss was set up at SHOP and shooting attendants that chose to try on one of the selected jackets for the new fall ad in M Magazine. Below are some of the daring guests that participated...

Next week Thursday the Top 5 voting polls will open on this blog for two weeks. The winner at the end will be the New Face of SHOP and have an ad in M Magazine!

Russell & Kristyna had an amazing wedding event this past Saturday in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It was an absolute blast!

It was the funniest... Lucy (the cutie pie doggie) was so scared of me, but boy, did I grab a bunch of cutsie shots of Lucy hiding in mommy's wedding dress and the two of them together.

The reception was held at Becket's on the Water, which is a newer restaurant that is very contemporary and stylish. ... and yummy!

Don't worry. Everything is right there on the website from: different galleries ranging from wedding to baby, and other information. This fun story goes way back to the actual engagement... Dan flew Siri to Thailand to ask for her father's permission... what a guy... right? And that was the start... or probably more like the middle... of this love story...

One of the bridesmaids asked me to take a photo with her camera... I was trying not to laugh because I thought it was a ridiculously large point & shoot digital camera... I was SO wrong... it ends up it is the coolest looking Polaroid camera ever! haha. Ends up its from Japan... of course.

I absolutely love these random shots down by Lake Michigan with the bikers in the background... pure awesomeness...

At first they couldn't keep a straight face... then the love trickled in... and it became a magical moment.

The Best man was giving a toast... I normally don't think these are too Sneak Peek worthy... but... Seriously, the man could not stop crying... Everyone was laughing hysterically... even the Best man... which made it even funnier... laughing... crying... laughing... crying... haha. Great!

These porcelein jars were brought here by the mother from Thailand for every guest to take home with them... so special.

What a beautiful Friday late afternoon to have held a wedding at the Milwaukee Zoo! I had so much fun shooting the wedding of Murray and Kaitlin... especially because they are crazy in love with eachother.

This is the beginning of a crazy adventure to find a peacock. Kaitlin's decor was all about peacock feathers... I mean... everywhere. So it was a definite mission of mine to find one at the zoo for some... 'portraits' ... We were running after them all over the place trying to get them near Kaitlin & Murray... and at the same time trying to rile them up so all their feathers would burst out (we failed to get a peacock that pissed at us... but still got some amazing frames)

I loved these shots we got inside of a strange waterfall... we were definitely tresspassing, but come on- anything for the shot, right? haha... we were just finishing up with the waterfall and its surrounding area, when, yup... a security guard came out and booted us out.Awww... daddy giving his little girl away.
Yeah...

What an awesome way to tell your guests where they are seated. These were faux frosted lit vases.... so cool and unique!The bride & groom wrote meaningful letters to their whole bridal party, readers, and other important extras that made their wedding day perfect. It was very touching to see everyone reading their letters at the reception.

Agh... Amazing! We made a beautiful Photo GuestBook for the couple filled with engagement portraits. This was such an amazing way for their guests to see Stephan & Rachel in a totally different light... casual and fabulous!

hehe... Loved getting this shot! Gotta love the iPhones. I think Stephan got a lil' worried when all of a sudden I was like, 'Give me your phone' and then started messing with it... hehe

OMGOSH. OMGOSH. OMGOSH. This was sooo... cool... Mashed Potato Martini Station!!!!!!! So, you could build your own loaded mashed potato creation in a martini glass!

I had the great honour of photographing Brian & Jessie's wedding last weekend in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

This was hilarious... I had this 'vision' - as usual- for this shot. I had my usual wedding outfit of all black with a skirt & leggings. Well to pull this off, I took off my skirt for the bride to lay on... haha... BRIDES that's how much I care about you - I care about you so much, I'll start taking clothes off... haha. Perfect! Totally worth it!

Stella & Striker's Playdate...

Sam and I had so much fun last Sunday at our house for a playdate with Striker, and his parents Jon&Anne.

This was Stella's first playdate with another doggie. I think she did very well... especially for how big Striker is. But Striker is such a loveable, easy-going dog to begin with, it was the perfect choice for introducing Stella to other animals.

Ohhh... Stella is getting so big! I keep telling her, 'Stop growing' ... but she doesn't listen:(

I love shooting environments that are not common and are kind of shocking places for a Bride & Groom to be. We loved shooting at this nearby farm... they had some crazy-fun stuff in the yard, that just added to all the excitment!

I am so glad we were blessed with great weather and a great limo for transporting this bunch everywhere... because fortunately & unfortunately with a Matron of Honour as a photographer (me), I kinda... had our location shooting all picked out: OshVegas sign, a Carnival, & the Country Club grounds....... perfect!

Both avid golfers, so it only made sense to give their guests custom golf balls as 'thank yous' for attending their wedding event.

I saved the best 'Photo with a Story' for last...

So you know how everywhere you are seeing this trend of the Bride & Groom having crazy dances at the reception or down the aisle - as seen on YouTube and other outlets...

Well they did it! -and a month before it was the IT thing to do.

Anyways, they started out with a beautiful love song for their first dance... then all of a sudden the music cuts - Bride throws Groom to the floor - guests are confused - then the beat.... Michael Jackson!!! - They had a whole routine ... it was the COOLEST!!!

I totally recommend YOU to do this at your wedding... I think every guest is still talking about it:)

Beach Shoot... fun times!

Awwww... so much fun with the Meinecke girls as always:)

We switched things up a bit and went out to the beach for some sisterly lovin'... It was the cutest time walking down to the beach, as each girl grabbed one of my hands.

It is so amazing how time flies, as I met both these little ones just as babies, and have photographed them growing into such wonderful little girls... It is an honor to have them as subjects and their parents as clients.

Lucy had her One Year Birthday session at Gloss... and boy was it a party!

I can't beleive how quickly time flies... Lucy has done our Gloss Bebe plan the past year. It was a great experience to capture those awesome moments of growth through baby's first year.

There were definitely a few moment through the shoot I was singing to myself, 'It's my partay and I'll cry if I want to... cry if I want to' ... haha... so cute! Overall the shoot was a total success with a birthday cake... yummy!

She is absolutely AMAZING! I love her so much already.

Our cats, Dolce, Louis, & CoCo are not too thrilled at this point, but there is plenty of room for everyone to live in their 'seperate worlds'.

Stella & I went to Hounds Around Town in Whitefish Bay to get all of our puppy necessities this morning.

David & Nikelle had a destination wedding in the Grande Cayman Islands this past May. Last Saturday they held a beautiful reception at the Lake Geneva Yacht Club for only 400!!! of their closest friends and family:)

David & Nikelle were so much fun to work with. I have to admit, that they are two of the most passionate couples I have spent time with shooting... their love for one another was present in every action and moment throughout this wedding reception.

We had an amazing day shooting throughout Milwaukee and the NorthShore area for a few hours before they had a beautiful cocktail reception at the Milwaukee Yacht Club.
They brought back so many elements from their Dominican wedding. They were all very special touches that added to the unique environment at the Milwaukee Yacht Club.

I loved that she incorporated her father's wedding band in her wedding attire.

I loved how sassy Jen and her sister's were... so much fun!

So as everyone knows (if not then read the blog post below on Let's Play Dress-Up & Butterflies in Flight) we had an amazing event last Saturday of the unveiling of Butterflies in Flight. As a result, we had a huge turn out of kids in their dress-up clothes, seasonal wear, & mommy/daddy's clothes... over 25 kids participated in this absolutely free event hosted by Gloss, as part of Butterflies in Flight!!!

Stay tuned... just because this day event is over, doesn't mean we don't have BIG plans in celebration of all the children that came out to have fun...

Our Blog will be hosting a contest where you can VOTE for the Best Dressed. Only 5 contestants will be chosen. The Establishment Salon & SHOP will be assisting us in the decision-making for our top 5 contestants.

A complimentary Signature Session & a framed 8x10 signature portrait ($300 value)

And none of this would have been possible if it weren't for the great artists who painted/ mosaiced 30 butterflies that have been placed all around Shorewood's business district. Pictured above, is our awesome artist, Mariska, who designed our butterfly. Mariska will be displaying numerous oil and acrylic paintings, including a 22x70 painting at the studio during Milwaukee's Summer Gallery Night - July 25th 2009. More information will be posted soon on this upcoming event.

Jason & Diane's E-Session

Every time I say their names or type them for that matter I start humming 'Jack & Diane' ... I know... weird:)

Jason, Diane, & myself had an awesome and bodacious day shooting out at a local park that also had water front which set up the shots for some amazing shooting environments.

All three of us had never seen Lk Michigan looking so blue... and clean... ha. We all agreed that we definitely did not feel like we were in Milwaukee, especially with what a beautiful day we caught...

Baby Evan was one of our Cutest Kid Contest winners a few months ago... and he came back for some more:)
